EDWARD JACOB

A son of John Jacob and grandson of Edward Jacob FSA, he was born on Sunday 14th February, baptized on 15th March 1796. He married Sarah Anne, the daughter of Edwin Legrand and Sarah Anne Clarke, the daughter of the Reverend Richard Clarke. She died 31st January 1832 aged 63. They had no children. He spent much of his time in the Royal Navy.

We learn from a letter written by his niece Gertrude Jacob to her brother Edgar Jacob on 4th March 1854 that his house had burnt down, when he lost many of his possession. I wonder what family archives were lost in the process. He was a keen genealogist, as notes on the subject made by him have survived.
