CAPTAIN STEPHEN LONG
Born - Died 20th February 1756
He married Mary, the daughter of Richard Solly, Mayor of Sandwich. They had a sole daughter and heiress Mary, who married Edward Jacob FSA of Faversham. His tablet in Faversham church has the following insciption:

lyeth the body of
Stephen Long Gent
who closed a well spent life on the 20th
day of Feb 1756 in the 74th year of his age
leaving issue one daughter Mary the
wife of Edward Jacob one of the Jurats of
this town
By his
will he left all his lands to his sole daughter and heiress Mary, for her
use during her natural life, and after her decease to the use of her children
by Edward Jacob. Had there been no issue, these were to descend to his niece
and nephews Joanna Long, John Long and Stephen Long, children of his late
brother John Long, deceased. To Edward Jacob and his niece Joanna Long he
left £100 each; to his nephews £10 each. All monies, plate, mortgages
and other personal property was left to his nephew Stephen Long and Thomas
Back of Faversham, to be held in trust and to the interest of his daughter
Mary. The will was dated 9th January 1752, with a codicil added 10th April
1753. It was proved 22nd March 1756.
