JOHN JACOB
of Stelling

Probate to his will granted on 16th November 1525

He is named as a son of Thomas Jacob of Cheriton in the latter's will dated in 1518. He married Agnes, the daughter of John Martin. They had children:

1 William.
2 John.

The wills states that he wished his son John to have his house called pays house and 2 acres of land in Stelling. The probate to John's will was granted on 16th November 1525 (CKS, PRC 17/17 f63). In it he wills to his wife Agnes all the lands and tenements that were her father John Martin's, lying at Stelling, Lyminge and Elmstead at a place called Scappes, which she is to have for the term of her natural life, apart from 6 acres of these, which were lately occupied by Robert Grene. After her death these 6 acres to go to John Wilshe his servant. There are other bequests. He appoints William Gilbert of High Herds (High Hardres ?) and his wife Agnes executors of his will, his brother Richard to be overseer.

The main pedigree continues with his brother Richard, son of Thomas Jacob.
