He was rector of Great Chart, Kent. He married Lydia Catherine, one of the two daughters of the Reverend James Andrew, prebendary of Rochester and vicar of Ashford. The had children:

1 Reverend John Nance DD, who died in 1853.
2 Lydia, dsp.

Reverend John Nance married Anne, a daughter of Reverend James Bond. They had two children, James Nance, a surgeon, and Anne Nance.
