A son of Francis Thomas Platt, he was born in 1860 and died in 1925. He married Mildred Barham Bond, the daughter of Sir Edward Augustus Bond. They had children:

A son of Francis Thomas Platt, he was born in 1860 and died in 1925. He married Mildred Barham Bond, the daughter of Sir Edward Augustus Bond. They had children:
1 Dorothy Frances, born in 1886, died in 1938. She was a district nurse; she never married.
2 Edward Arthur OBE, born in 1888, died in 1978.
John Arthur Platt was professor of Greek at University College London (U.C.L.). Mildred was a great friend of the poet A.E.Housman, leaving many letters between them to U.C.L. and New York's public Library (the Henry W and Albert A Berg Collection of English and American Literature). She was a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and exhibited three works between 1884-1885.
Mildred
died 4th November 1912.
