JOHN JACOB
Born - fl 1649
He was a son of John Jacob of Halberton and Tavistock. His wife was named Elizabeth and they had at least nine children, one of whom was a son named John.
On 20th July 1649 both John Jacob senior and John Jacob junior were interogated and it is stated the son compounds on his discovery fearing he may have said or done something making him liable of sequestration (Committee for the Advance of Money). A fine of £40 was paid. On 1st June 1652 John Jacob senior, Elizabeth his wife, and nine other children, complain that the whole estate is sequestered and let to Lieutenant John Pearse at £100 a year, no allowance being made to them. They beg allowance of their fifth part (ibid).On 6th July 1652 it is stated this was granted, and if the estate be not sequestered for recusancy and one third allowed already (ibid).

28th January 1653 John Jacob junior begs allowance of his lease of Crowndell
Barton, in Tavistock, which his father held for three lives of the Earl of
Bedford, at a rent of £4 a year and which, by is father's death, has
come to him
(ibid).
