HAYWARD PEDIGREE
Edward Hayward, described in an indenture dated 14th October
1659, as of the parish of Whistable, in Kent. He was party to several other
deeds dated in 1669, 1676 and 1679, by which he purchased land in Chistlet,
Reculver and Seasalter in the county of Kent. Dying in 1682, he had children:
1 Edward, of whom hereafter.
2 Daughters from whom the families of Knott and Foutrell (?) are descended.
Edward his son was buried at Whitstable in Kent on 20th August 1655. He had children:
1 John, of whom hereafter.
2 Edward, who married his wife Mary in 1698. He is described as of the city of Canterbury. They had a son and two daughters.
3 Elizabeth, who married Richard Reynolds.
John married Elizabeth Marshman, daughter of Peter Marshman of Canterbury. She died on 1st May 1741 and was buried at St George the Martyr Canterbury. John's will is dated 1st November 1750 and proved 21st September 1752. He died 19th April 1752 and was buried at St George the Martyr Canterbury. He had children:
1 Peter, baptized 2nd June 1708, died 19th August 1737. He was a freeman of the city of London. He married Anne, the daughter of William Crayford. She died 2nd October 1737 and was buried at St Alphage, Canterbury.
2 Judith, of the city of Canterbury. She died 9th November 1752. Her will is dated 20th April 1752, proved in 1753
3 Anne, of the city of Canterbury. She died without issue on 25th October 1786 and was buried at St
George's, Canterbury.
Peter and Anne had children:
1 Edward, born 28th April 1734, died in December 1636.
2 Anne, born 14th May 1735, died 15th March 1819. She was buried in the cloisters of Canterbury Cathedral. She married at Ash Church in Kent on 7th May 1767 George Le Grand, surgeon of the city of Canterbury. She was his second wife. He was born on 24th August 1729 and died on 27th February 1807. He too was buried in the cloisters of the cathedral. They had issue (see Legrand pedigree).
3 John, born 12th July 1736, died 26th December 1794 without issue. He married Catherine Harvey, daughter of ----- Harvey of Dane Court in Kent. She was born on 17th August 1738 and died in 1826.
