HAROLD ADRIAN RUSSELL PHILBY (1912-1988)

known as Kim Philby

 

 

Kim's father, Harry St John Philby, was a noted Arabist in his day, and advisor to King Ibn Sa'ud of Saudi Arabia. He was befriended with my grandfather Lt-Col Harold Fenton Jacob, and so it was that the young Kim was parked on my family for the Easter holiday of 1920. My father describes this in his book 'A Distant Prospect' (see under Jacob Private Press).
