I remember Modesta Peters when she was very much older, and I a very young child. She could always keep me spellbound with stories. A good friend of my German grandmother Maria Ruhrmann, she too was an actress, but more importantly she had a trick bicycle act together with what I believe was her husband, pictured above. She also owned a fashionable hat-shop in Essen, Germany.
