THE MANOR OF TERLINGHAM, in 100 of Folkestone, Kent.

Detailed surveys and extents of manors are give in Inquisitions Post Mortem of the late 13th and early 14th centuries, many listing names of tenants, but rarely in the printed versions. One needs to look at the original files containing these in the National Archives. Much very useful information is contained in them for the medieval period. Many years ago I started to transcribe some of these. This is one of the earliest transcripts I made in the early 1970s. The following is imperfect. It is imperfect for two reasons. First, my ability to transcribe at that time was not what it is now; I had intended going back to complete the transcription, but have never got round to it. Second, this particular manuscript was not in a good condition. Nevertheless, I publish what I noted down. It is of some importance to Kentish historians. I hope it will stimulate others to look at this particular source of information.
