1661 BETWEEN Thomas Gorst of London, gentleman, of the one
part and Edward Heron of the parish of St Giles in the fields,
carpenter, in the county of Middlesex, of the other part... WITNESSETH that
the said Thomas Gorst for and in consideration of £25...
paid to him by Edward Heron.... as also in consideration of
the yearly rents and covenants etc.... HATH demised, granted and to farm letten
unto the said Edward Heron... ALL that messuage or tenement
with the appurtenances situated in the way or passage leading from the arch
or gate in pursefield, otherwise known by the name of Duke Street, it being
the corner house leading to certain stables and coach houses lying in the parish
of St Giles in the Fields.... and now in the occupation of the said Edward
Heron, together with the yard belonging to the said messuage (as it
is closed with a brick wall and the use of the pump thereto belonging)... and
likewise the said Thomas Gorst has by these presents demised
and to farm letten one other small piece of ground adjoining to the way or passage
leading from Duke Street to certain coach houses and gardens there containing
in length from east to west 34 feet of assize, and in breadth at the east end
1 foot of assize or thereabouts, and in breadth at the west end 16 feet of assize,
and abutteth north upon the brick wall, enclosing the gardens of Richard
Parr and John Goodwine south, upon
a way leading from Duke Street to the said gardens east, upon or towards the
yards belonging to the before demised premises, and west upon a little alley
set out for a passage from Richard Parr’s garden unto
the said way leading from Duke Street aforesaid.... TO HAVE AND TO HOLD... from
the feast day of the Nativity of St John the Baptist last for the term of 21
years....YIELDING AND PAYING yearly the rent of £26.....

of the said parish, widow, deceased, of the one part, and William Hall
of the said parish, cordwainer, and Elizabeth his wife, sole
daughters of the said Elizabeth Southerton, of the other part....
WITNESSETH that for and in consideration of 5/-.... she the said Elizabeth
HATH bargained and sold.... unto the said William and Elizabeth
all that the undivided 1/3 part of her the said Elizabeth Southerton,
the whole in three equal parts divided.... of and in all those 4 messuages,

city of London, acknowledged himself bound in the sum of £1000 unto the
master and brethren and sisters of the gild and fraternity of the honour of

or parcel of ground with the appurtenances whereupon stood four messuages or
tenements before the late dreadful fire in London, lying and being in Philip
Lane, in the parish of St Alphage, in the city of London, abutting upon Philip
Lane on the east, and the dead wall on the west, and upon ground of ----- Foster
on the south, on a parcel of ground belonging to the Company of Curriers on
the north, which said premises were of the occupation of Mrs Elizabeth
Nicholas, deceased.... TO HAVE AND TO HOLD.... forever.

founded by Lawrence Sheriff, grocer, of London of the one part,
and Mathew Dungan of New Ormond Street, in the parish of St
Andrew Holborn, in the county of Middlesex, gentleman, of the other part WITNESSETH
that in consideration of £25 the trustees have bargained, demised, leased
and to farm let to the said Mathew Dungan all that messuage
or tenement being No 3, situated on the north side of New Ormond Street aforesaid,
abutting east on a messuage of the said Trustees, in the occupation of Mr
Peter Roke, and west on another messuage of the said Trustees,
leased to the said Mathew Dungan, and in the occupation of
William Gatty, which said premises are now in the tenure of
John Burgess.... and are situated in the parish of St Andrew
Holborn... at a yearly rent of £6....

the within named premises were on or about 19th March last past put up for public
sale, and John Ricketts of Canon Street, in
the city of London, cheesemonger, appeared to be the highest bidder for the
same for the price of £220, and accordingly paid into the hands of the
auctioneer the sum of £44 part thereof by way of a deposit... KNOW YE
that the said William Harrison and Joseph Cooke
in consideration of the sum of £42 so paid and in consideration of the
sum of £176 to them now in hand paid.... HAVE granted, bargained and sold,
transferred, set over etc all the said messuage and tenement etc TO HAVE AND
TO HOLD unto the said John Ricketts for the remainder of the term due....

now in the parish of St John Hackney, in the county aforesaid, stock broker,
of the other part WITNESSETH that in consideration of 5/- they have bargained
and sold ALL that messuage, tenement etc in the parish of St Ann Limehouse on
a street there called St Anne’s Street on the west side thereof, numbered
4 and now in the occupation of John ----- (sic), abutting on
the east on St Anne’s Street, on the west on ground belonging to the said
