PRICE BLACKWOOD HALLOWES

Born 13th January 1801 - Died 13th November 1882

A surgeon from Canterbury, the fourth son of Lieutenant-Colonel John Hallowes, he was born at Ashford 13th January 1801, and died 13th November 1882. He married Charlotte Harriet, daughter of Reverend John Bond in c 1832. They had children:

1 Blackwood, born c 1833, died c 1920.
2 Frederick Blackwood, born in 1835, died in 1936.
3 Florence Caroline Blackwood, born in 1841, died in 1935. She married John Ward (1837-1877).
4 George Blackwood, born in 1842, died in 1883. He married Lucy Mary Leachman (1836-1916).
5 Adolphus Henry Blackwood, born 1824, died in 1927. He married Elizabeth Hoar (1849-1927).
7 Edith Louisa Blackwood, born c 1854, died in 1918. She married Commander William Parker RN.
8 Edward Price Blackwood, born in 1851, died in 1923. He married Amelia Wilkie Peregrine.

He underwent Medical Training at St. Bartholomew's Hospital. In 1822 he qualified as a Licentiate of the Society of Apothecaries; 1832 as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons; and as FRCS in 1843. In 1847 he was appointed Consultant Surgeon to the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. and Surgeon to the Clergy Orphan School.
