HORACE ABBOT DEAN
Born 20th October 1857 - Died
A son of the Reverend Samuel Chase Dean, he was born in Ahmednuggur, India, on 20th October 1857. On 16th February 1881, at Steele City, Nebraska, he married Elizabeth Wood Wakeman. She was born in Clayton County, Iowa, on 29th January 1860, the daughter of Halsey Wood and Catherine Hill Wakeman, of Stuttgart, Arkansas, USA. He studied at Doane College, Nebraska; he was treasurer of school district No 22, Jefferson County, Nebraska, in 1882, and school director there in 1884-1888; he was also school director of district No 43, Prairie County, Arkansas, in 1895; he joined the Congregational Church in Steele City in 1875; he was a farmer and stock raiser; he lived at Stuttgart.
Horace and Elizabeth had children:
1 Herman Wakeman, born in Steele City, Nebraska, 23rd March 1882.
2 Edgar Lysle, born in Steele City 15th September 1885.
3 Ruth Augusta, born in Steele City 12th October 1885.
4 Carl Chase, born in Stuttgart 17th November 1891.
5 Carrie Elizabeth, born in Stuttgart 17th November 1895.
6 Ella Catherine, born 17th September 1901.
