LIEUTENANT-COLONEL GEORGE LYDDON MORLEY

Colonel Morley, taken 2nd October 1894, aged 55

 

He was born in 1840 at Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire. He married Mabel Ingram, daughter of the Reverend George Bomforde Wheeler and Elizabeth (Eliza) Shaw, the latter born in 1846, and died on 6th June 1910. They had children:

1 George Collison, who died at Ballysax rectory 19th August 1871, aged 4 1/2 months.
2 George W, born 13th June 1872 in Ireland.
3 Mabel Lyddon, born in 1874 in Ireland. She married Dr Longley.
4 Violet A, born in 1875 in Ireland.
5 Lionel St H, born 10th February 1876 in Dover, who married Mildred Constance Ogilby.
6 Chartres Lyddon, born in September 1879 in Dover.
7 Stella W, born in 1884 in Dover.

He rose to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, serving in the 79th Highlanders and the Army Service Corps. His wife Mabel was described as an authoress in the 1991 census.

His three sons appear in the above photograph. They are from left to right: George Wheeler Morley, aged 22, Lionel St Helier Morley, aged 19 and Chartres L Morley, aged 17
